DJ and Producer Scott Ferguson, known as ROBOT84, has been a fixture of the underground music scene since the 1990s, evolving into production in the 2000s. With a style deeply rooted in house, disco, and Balearic influences, Scott’s work under the ROBOT84 guise continues to resonate with fans and industry heavyweights alike.
ROBOT84’s material is championed by some of the music world’s most respected names, including Jon Sa Trinxa, Danny Rampling, Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, DJ Harvey, Honey Dijon, The Blessed Madonna, Heidi Lawden, Gerd Janson, Greg Wilson, Nancy Noise, Artwork, Melon Bomb, Laurent Garnier, Groove Armada’s Tom Findlay, Melvo Baptiste, and Horse Meat Disco’s Jim Stanton. His tracks have been played on BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music by Annie Mac, Danny Howard, Arielle Free, Nemone, Monki and Nightmares on Wax, further solidifying his place as a key player in the scene.
Scott’s journey began behind the decks in the 90s, where he played alongside legends like Moodymann, Andrew Weatherall, Juan Atkins, Josh Wink, and Ashley Beedle, worked in the legendary Bomba Records and co-owned Defunkt Records in Glasgow with Deep Sensation’s Colin Gate. Transitioning into production, ROBOT84 emerged as a force with releases on labels like Nervous Records (NYC), Paper Recordings (UK), Midnight Riot (UK), Secret Life and Music For Dreams, as well as remixes for Balearic pioneers, Finitribe, Afterlife, and Paul Rutherford.
In 2012, his breakout track, Welcome to the Pleasuredome (FGTH Rework), made waves with plays by Greg Wilson at Bestival and throughout Ibiza by DJs like the late DJ Alfredo and Laurent Garnier.
More recently, his Futuro Disko EP on Seamus Haji’s ReLoved label brought his music to new digital audiences, while his 2024 vinyl releases, ROBOT84 vs The Raff - Get It Right Next Time and Cosmic Accident, have been embraced by DJs worldwide.
2024 saw another milestone with the independent release of Get Down 2024, further showcasing ROBOT84’s mastery of groove-laden, dancefloor-ready beats.
Looking ahead to 2025, Scott has two highly anticipated vinyl releases scheduled for February: the next chapter in his much-loved Promo Series, Promo Vol. 5, and his debut on Is It Balearic’s Magic Wand vinyl series.
While Scott’s music career continues to thrive, his personal journey has been equally remarkable. Following a life-altering ischemic stroke on Boxing Day 2022, Scott faced months of recovery, relearning how to walk and overcoming significant physical and cognitive challenges. His relentless drive, positivity, and passion for music have not only fueled his recovery but also inspired his creative process.
With a renewed dedication to his art, Scott is determined to make 2025 the year he gets back behind the decks, bringing his signature sound and energy to live audiences once again. ROBOT84’s story is one of resilience, creativity, and an unwavering love for music that transcends challenges and connects deeply with audiences around the world.
